The Grammy Awards are one of the most anticipated events in the music industry, bringing together artists from all different genres to celebrate their achievements. This year, several artists have been nominated to be recognized, some of whom I believe have a high chance of winning.
First, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has been nominated five times for multiple different awards. This prior success leads me to believe that he will more than likely win at least once for just that song alone. I think that what makes this song so much more popular than his other work is a combination of multiple factors. First, there was extremely high anticipation surrounding the time when the song was about to come out, due to the fact that it was a diss track to another popular artist: Drake. Additionally, the songwriting and beat of the song were truly unmatched.
Furthermore, I think that Chappell Roan will win the award for best new artist. Although Sabrina Carpenter was nominated and has grown to be incredibly popular recently, she has been in the industry for a long time, and her background with Disney helped to set her up. She had popular hits before she blew up, however, Chappell Roan did not. It is almost as if Roan came out of nowhere and dropped multiple hit songs. This means that while they are both super popular, Roan is definitely newer to the music scene. The new artist category is definitely a close competition between the two.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not think that Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is going to win for best album. While The Tortured Poets Department has strong songwriting, it’s difficult to interpret. Also, the songs on that album all blend together, almost making it a drag to listen to, as it feels like just one really long song. However, Swift is a talented artist, and she likely has the chance to win an award for her song “Fortnight”. On the other hand, Billie Eilish’s album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT is going to win for best album because not only does it have multiple hits, but it is also a versatile album. It’s under an hour in length, and it hooks the listener because of how unique each track is. Each song feels like it contains its own storyline, and Eilish features a huge variety of different styles of music, all blending together into one smooth album.
In conclusion, the Grammy Awards are always full of surprises, and these are just my personal beliefs. Every artists’ impressive contributions to music earned them a nomination and an equal chance to win a Grammy.
