Run by Mrs. Diane Tucker and her family, Brandywine Bloom is a small, local flower farm started in 2023. The farm was born from their mutual backgrounds with plants; Mrs. Tucker specialized in entomology and plant pathology, and her husband grew up on an apple orchard. Putting two and two together, the farm has now become well established within the community, appearing in local markets, such as Kennett’s farmer’s market.

The small family-run business also implements sustainable soil practices and is against pesticide use. Unfortunately, this means long hours of hand weeding for them. With five acres to tend to, the farm is so high maintenance that they work from “sunrise to sunset during the summertime,” and with weeds growing on the daily, Mrs. Tucker simply states that sometimes she just has to “Edward Scissorhand it.” Even so, Brandywine Bloom grows an abundance of flowers, including zinnias, lisianthus, eucalyptus, dahlias, and many more. In addition, they have decorated weddings and special events with their floral arrangements. So, for those looking for a fresh bouquet to admire, or celebrate your loved ones, Brandywine Bloom is the perfect local, sustainable business to support!
