This year, a Kindness Matters initiative was created to spread kindness across Unionville’s community. The initiative, building off of Unionville’s “Portrait of a Graduate” creed, aims to highlight and strengthen the values of our district, specifically kindness. Its committee, consisting of various members of our community--students, staff, and administrators--of all levels of the district, have come together to devise plans to expand kindness’ influence through events and activities. The committee has formed three subcommittees, each in charge of three new initiatives: Kindness Cards, Spreading Kindness to Community Organizations, and a Kindness Concert.

Taking a closer look at one of the initiatives, Kindness Concert subcommittee member Ismaeel Qureshi explains that “while [they] are still in the early planning stages, [they] anticipate that the Kindness Concert will...bring the community together through a shared love of music.” The committee hopes to incorporate performances by students and local artists in the concert to bring joy and kindness alongside appreciation for our community’s talents
