As we’ve all been yearning for this winter break, the holiday season always brings a lot of cheer. However, in recent years, the festive season has seemed somewhat dull, overshadowed by the academic exhaustion of both students and staff members. So, what are some activities and plans that Unionville Longhorns have for this winter break? Though many have expressed their irresolute opinions about our 12-day break, some have come forward to share their unique traditions they intend to continue this year. For instance, two teachers from our art department, Mr. Louis Stamis and Mrs. Noelle Porco, have shared with us their individual traditions: Mr. Stamis shares his snowy days with his family by reading old books, while Mrs. Porco likes to roast marshmallows and make warm puzzles for the winter season.

Students have also voiced enthusiasm for their vacation plans, which include cruises, skiing, and more. Specifically, junior Julia Ran shared her plans to go to Jamaica this winter break for a change of scenery and warm weather to offset the chilly temperatures. Additionally, some Unionville families have continued their quirky tradition of hanging pickles on trees, while other students have embraced the joy of simpler activities such as going to the mall and sleeping in.

Many families also intend to visit loved ones and celebrate with relatives. For example, gifted support teacher, Mrs. Sue Matz mentioned her plans to visit her 90-year-old father and enjoy a cozy reunion with her close family members.

In essence, the holiday season is filled with fun and excitement. Some have planned special activities for winter fun, while others have decided to relax and appreciate the short intermission before the next half of the school year.
